Welcome! We invite you to review the following pages that will familiarize you with all aspects of the Department of Occupational Therapy at The University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. The program was established in 1954 and initially accredited in 1956. We have a satellite program in Wyoming that was developed in 1993 and initially accredited in 1995. Both sites have had continuous accreditation through the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (www.acoteonline.org). We consider ourselves to be one outstanding program with two campus locations--Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Casper, Wyoming.
Occupational therapy is a rewarding career choice because of the opportunity it affords to make a positive difference in people's lives. Helping people of any age learn to recover from life's challenges and relearn the skills for the "job of living" is unique.
The Occupational Therapy Program is applying to the North Dakota University System for approval to offer the occupational therapy doctorate. Once approval has been obtained we will apply for Candidacy Status through Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education. We tentatively hope to offer the occupational therapy doctorate beginning August 2019.
