Evaluation Scale for Student Write-Ups
Student write-ups will be evaluated under student anonymity by two of the Internal Medicine Student Evaluation Committee members.
Scoring of the write-up will be on a 0 to 10 scale averaged over both reviewers.
9.5 to 10 will be rated "Exceptional" (4).
9.0 to 9.4 will be rated "Advanced" (3).
8.5 to 8.9 will be rated "Proficient/Competent" (2).
8.0 to 8.4 will be rated "Minimally Meets Expectations" (1) and the student will be given the opportunity, but not the requirement, to repeat.
Less than 8.0 represents a failing score "Does Not Meet Expectations" (0) and the student must revise the failing write-up. Upon satisfactory revision, the student will receive the minimum passing score of 8.0.
Evaluation Scale for Student Learning Issues
Dr. Newman will evaluate all the students' learning issues and will score them as below expectations, meets expectations, or exceeds expectations. The student will be awarded:
≥ 9 points = exceeds expectations
> 5 points and < 9 points = meets expectations
< 5 points = below expectations
Less than 5 represents a failing score “below expectations” and the student must revise the failing learning issue. Upon satisfactory revision, the student will receive the minimum passing score “meets expectations” of 5.
