Objectives of the Elective:
- To expose the medical student
to a variety of musculoskeletal pathologies.
- To learn to associate the
history and physical examination with assessment and treatment, both
nonoperative and operative..
Instructional Activities:
- Primarily preceptor based
with one on one discussions of patient problems.
- Readings of basic anatomy associated
with cases.
- Physical examination of
patients when appropriate will be expected.
Standards of Performance (Outcomes) Indicating Attainment of Objectives:
- Each student will be expected
to do a series of case presentations with explanation of the essential
elements of the history and physical examination and relevant radiographic
findings.
Criteria for Grading:
- Attendance.
- Punctuality.
- Level of completeness in
assessments of patients.
- Extra reading - texts and
articles as provided by this service.
