Objectives of the Elective:

  1. Be able to conduct a pediatric psychiatric assessment.
  2. Demonstrte familiarity with pediatric psychotherapy techniques.
  3. Demonstrate familiarity with pediatric psychopharmacology techniques.
  4. Demonstrate familiarity with systems connected to the child, such as family, social service, courts, and educational.

Instructional Activities:

  1. Conduct diagnostic evaluations with children under the supervision of the instructor.
  2. Attend occupational therapy and recreational therapy groups.
  3. Participate in multidisciplinary staffings.
  4. Participate in meetings with the child psychologists.

Standards of Performance (Outcomes) Indicating Attainment of Objectives:

  1. Conduct a minimum of two child psychiatric assessments which meet the approval of the instructor.
  2. Document attendance at the required groups, treatment team meetings, and classes.

Criteria for Grading:

The student will perform written examinations.
