Jeffrey Holm, Ph.D.
Senior Research Scientist and Professor of Psychology

Dr. Jeffrey Holm's work at CHPPR currently focuses on the evaluation of school-based prevention strategies for tobacco use and obesity in North Dakota youth. Dr. Holm has co-authored a research monograph that summarizes the efficacy of U.S. tobacco prevention curricula in schools, that details the current status of statewide comprehensive programs for reducing tobacco use, and that analyzes tobacco use patterns in North Dakota youth and adults over time. With over 15 years experience as a behavioral health psychologist, Dr. Holm oversees CHPPR's evaluation programs, the development of projects aimed at reducing health disparities in North Dakota Native Americans, and graduate student training in prevention science. Dr. Holm received his master's degree and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the Ohio University in 1987. He has been on faculty in the Department of Psychology at UND since 1987, has served as the clinical supervisor at the USDA Grand Forks Human Nutrition Center since 1990, and joined CHPPR as Senior Research Scientist in 2002. He also served as a member and then President of the North Dakota Board of Psychologist Examiners from 1994 to 2003. Dr. Holm currently teaches an advanced-level multivariate statistics course at UND and has published numerous articles and chapters in the field of health psychology.
